We do not always get what we want, but that doesn’t mean that we no longer want. It means we stay awake to the unmet longing and ache. Wait there. Invite Jesus to come there.

Many times I have felt lost, on the verge of giving up and unsure of how much longer I could hold on, when the Lord finds me right where I’m at and sets me back on the right path.

A lost penguin, called Happy Feet, turned up on a New Zealand shore, far from his home in Antarctica. The warm climate and lack of food made it difficult for the penguin to survive. But when he was spotted on a beach hanging on to life, professionals, who knew Happy Feet’s needs, nursed him back to health, pointed him in the direction of home and set him free.

If we believe in Him, Jesus will find us no matter how far off of the path we have strayed.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” - Luke 19:10

Scientists are tracking Happy Feet’s journey home and so can you. The following link is to a satellite map that updates Happy Feet’s progress: www.nzemperor.com.

We don’t have the ability to track our journey on a map but because we have faith, we know that we will not be lost forever, or maybe we were never lost in the first place.

The full flood of my life is not in bodily health, not in external
happenings, not in seeing God’s work succeed, but in the perfect
understanding of God, and in the communion with Him that Jesus
Himself had. The first thing that will hinder this joy is the
captious irritation of thinking out circumstances.

Oswald Chambers, “My Utmost for His Highest,” on John 15:11:

These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full

I’ve got gadgets and gizmos of plenty…

I’ve got whosits and whatsits galore, you want thing-a-mabobs? I got twenty, but who cares, no big deal, I want more…
That song has been stuck in my head, so I decided to think about the words…
The Little Mermaid wanted to be a person but sometimes I think being a mermaid would be better. You could just find a treasure-filled sunken ship to live in, focus all of your attention on winning the incredibly attractive man with feat and eat sushi all day long…
It just goes to show you that even mermaids who don’t pay rent or need jobs want a different life. Proverbs 10:29 says “The way of the Lord gives refuge to the honest man.” Synonyms for refuge are shield, shelter, security, sanctuary, fortress, anchorage, stronghold, opening. The way of the Lord is the only way to saftey, freedom and being content, no matter what our circumstance is in life.

p.s. Even though her Prince Charming sweeps her off of her feet in the end, Ariel’s sad tune would have eventually changed a little but she still would have “wanted more” soon enough…

How can you be content in your own life? I have an idea: Ephesians 5:1-2

Prayer: Merciful Father, we thank You that You do not treat us as we treat others. We confess we have not loved as You have loved us, not forgiven as You have forgiven us, not embraced as You have embraced us. May Your Holy Spirit fall on us fresh this day and may we act in accordance to what we believe, in Christ’s name.
